In Brief: Afghan government seeks more funds as H1N1 cases proliferate
KABUL, 8 November 2009 (IRIN Global) - Over 400 new cases of H1N1 influenza and eight fatalities have been reported in Afghanistan since 3 November, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). In total, 772 people (456 Afghans and 316 foreigners) have been infected by the virus in the country, the MoPH said.

BANGLADESH: Eight people, a dog, a goat and the sea
KUTUBDIA, 3 November 2009 (IRIN Asia) - The fisherman, his wife, three sons, two daughters, a sister-in-law, a dog and a goat and I eye each other dubiously. The family of eight is not certain whether I will be able to sleep in their mud hut, which is slightly bigger than a large sports utility vehicle. The animals seem to agree.
